So the other week the Truck guys asked me to roll out to B’Ham to check out their show with Daedelus and Ghislain Poirier. Of course I am always down to kick it with the fellas and am especially down to hit the road - so it was on. I started to get a bit nervous because of some recent issues I have been having with the ID - renewal be damned- but you know sometimes you just gotta be willing to sit outside for a good adventure. Adam and Tyler swung by to swoop me on the way to Ryan’s crib for a bit of pregame rehearsal and chillout time. We got there just in time for a shot of Hornitos and a patio skate session.

Tyler goes for the kill with a ……. well both feet are off the ground.
Adam reminded everybody that time waits for no band so the rehearsal was on.

what, still no vocoder up in this piece?
The rehearsal went pretty good and everybody was rarin’ to get on the road and see what kind of fun was to be had up in Bellingham. Now is a good time to explain the Truckasauras ethos - never drive drunk- but if you’re not driving, well we’re all adults here. So the road pops were broken out and we made short work of the trip up north.

Danbo may want to get that checked on by a professional

Hmmm, A Sparks in a paper bag. Who could this be?

The C.A.P.T.A.I.N.

The Majesty of Washington at 70 mph
We slipped into town just in time for the band’s soundcheck at the club, The Nightlight Lounge. This spot was HUGE, and with a massive stage room and a pretty swank bar setup the evening was shaping up to be a pretty fun time. Not to mention a very understanding door person who didn’t give a second thought to letting me in with my “issues”.

Sound checkin’
As the guys wrapped up their soundcheck, everybody was starting to feel the need to eat and apparently the place to go when in Bellingham is Casa Que Pasa a/k/a that bitchin burrito spot. Now a very awesome surprise happened as we started to posse up to head over there. Daedelus pops out of the club and hands everybody a $15 per diem for dinner. WORD!!!

Who could say no to this?

Daedelus and Ghislain, Burrito lovers.
After the grub, we headed back to the club to kick it and wait for the guys set to come up. As I said before, this spot is pretty awesome and they had everything to make an evening in a college town fun. I left Ryan and Ghislain to the ping pong table and joined the rest of the crew at the pool tables. Adam immediately called teams as him and Danbo vs. Tyler and myself. I got a funny feeling things may be a bit lopsided, especially because I can’t play for shit. At least there was no money on the line.

No Beer Here

Tyler takes money, son.
After the game, we all retired back to the Chariot to partake in a bit of preshow fellowship to help digest those massive burritos and get ready for a blistering Truckasauras set. For a brief moment all was good in the Universe.

Ready to do this.
The turnout for this show was a bit on the light side, but the folks that were there were really down for it and seemed to have a good time. I know I enjoyed myself and the fellas were all their usual sunny selves, so I would mark this trip up to the border a success.

My camera crapped out after I took this flick so no shots of Ghislain or Daedelus performing but it makes a suitable end point for my story.
